“To learn what we fear is to learn who we are. Horror defies our boundaries and illuminates our soul.”

The past couple of days we have been writing different quotes that are very “dark”. Since we have been working with the Gothic theme. We have written quotes that had a lot of things that reflect in our own soul and knowing ourselves. The first quote was about having our wounds fresh and not forgetting what they said to us. We can heal and get better but we will not forget what caused us so much pain and sadness. The second quote was about us always finding a place for all the people, even for us. That we are accepted somewhere, we just need to wait for it to come. The third quote is about we are not alone, that we are not going to go to the different places that we don’t know, alone. The fourth and last quote was about how we learn what we fear and where we need to stop and set boundaries. The fear that even though we see it as a bad thing, it helps us to understand ourselves.

Reading/Writing Task #5:Activities for Gothic Literature Unit

Last year, we did different activities and work related to Gothic Literature. It was very fun and it was learnful. My favorite activity was the work of the posters and the ghost story. I really learn to do compositions better  and to draw a little bit better.

This year my ideas are:

  • Lego competitions
  • Ghost Story and make the poster
  • Pumpkin carving related to the ghost story.

These past days we have been discussing different quotes. Every single one was related to the light, and how we can see it in our daily lives after all the catastrophes that are going on and we are going through. We can see in the first one that money can be a beautiful thing and we all see it as something big, but it can not bring us eternal happiness, because it comes and it will go. The second one is with all of these social problems, we have lost faith in ourselves and with the government. But we need faith to keep going and demonstrate that we are stronger than this. The third one is similar to the other one, we need to find the light, it can be hard but we can fight through it. The fourth one is about us going through failure to become better persons. In the fifth one, we can experience sometimes that we need someone to go through hard times and problems.  We have to go through darkness, so we can see the light.
